Located on the other side of the valley to Mt Myoko and Akakura Onsen village, this interlinked double resort with northern facing slopes has a total of 23 lifts and can be enjoyed with a joint pass.
Tangram Ski Resort is located at the base of Mt. Madarao - overlooking Iiyama & Nozawa Onsen in one direction and, on a clear day, the spectacular mountains of Myoko Kogen and the Japan Sea in the other. Tangram is a small-medium sized boutique ski resort but offers skiers and snowboarders an impressive 520 metres (1706 feet) of vertical descent including the aptly named ‘Skull Run’.
Madarao Ski Resort, connected to Tangram at the top of the mountain, is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but still offers plenty of terrain for beginners. For the advanced skier and snowboarder Madarao delivers a combination of some fairly steep runs and off-piste riding while the Tangram side of the mountain offers a small stash of some amazing tree riding.. The resort rarely has crowds and is the place to be after a fresh dump of powder with 60% of the mountain not accessed by the snow groomers.
Due to its northerly aspect, this interlinked resort delivers exceptional light, dry powder and fantastic views making riding here a memorable experience and a favorite destination of the Powder Recon crew.
